Sometimes people ask us how we choose our career training programs, so we figured we would answer that today in a blog post!
When choosing a new program to offer here at Lamson, we start with what is a called a Needs Analysis. Basically we take a good hard look at what fields and industries in the San Antonio community need more trained and qualified individuals. We even consult with an advisory board composed of local employers who tell us about what kinds of positions they are regularly hiring for. Understanding what knowledge and skill sets are in demand helps us gain an idea of what type of training would be helpful to provide for our students.
The Needs Analysis process is a crucial one because we want to know that there will be enough jobs available for our students to apply for once they graduate. We don’t want our students to put in the time and effort to learn a new trade just to find that there are no jobs requiring their new knowledge and skill set available for them when they graduate!
Beyond our own desire to help our students find jobs in their field of study upon program completion, we are held to high job placement standards by an accrediting body called the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC). In order to maintain our accreditation from ACCSC we are not only required to graduate a significant number of our students, we are required to place a large majority of our graduates in careers relevant to their field of study. So when we choose a program to offer, we want to make sure that we select one that will prepare graduates for in-demand jobs.
In summary, we select our career training programs based on what kinds of jobs are in demand locally. So if you live in the San Antonio area and you want to land an in-demand job, you should consider attending Lamson Institute!
